Belize: Where Jungle Meets Reef

Belize: the name alone brings images of swaying palm trees and blue waters. And believe me when I say that the reality doesn't disappoint!! This tiny Central American nation has a lot to offer in the way of adventure, culture, and leisure.

I'm here to tell you about my amazing trip to Belize. Belize offers something for every kind of traveler, experienced or inexperienced.

For a truly unforgettable stay in Belize, consider booking a room at the Seaside Cabanas Hotel on Caye Caulker. This charming hotel embodies the island's relaxed vibe, offering comfortable cabanas decorated with a blend of Belizean and Mexican styles. Wake up to the sound of gentle waves lapping at the shore and step out onto your private balcony to take in the breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea.

Seaside Cabanas isn't just about the location, though. The hotel boasts an inviting outdoor pool, perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring. In the evening, unwind at the on-site bar with a refreshing drink and soak in the stunning sunsets. The friendly and helpful staff can also assist you in planning your island adventures, whether you're interested in diving trips, snorkeling excursions, or simply renting a bike to explore the island at your own pace.

And no trip to Belize is complete without experiencing the world-famous Great Blue Hole. This giant underwater sinkhole is a diver's dream, with crystal-clear water and fascinating geological formations. Even if you're not a certified diver, there are plenty of snorkeling tours that will take you to the edge of the Blue Hole and allow you to marvel at its beauty. For a taste of island life, head to Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker. These laid-back islands offer pristine beaches, vibrant coral reefs perfect for snorkeling, and a slower pace of life.

In addition to its gorgeous beaches and laid-back vibe, Caye Caulker has a little craft market. This place is a real treasure trove of gifts and souvenirs produced locally. Look through booths filled with vibrant fabrics, beautifully carved wooden sculptures, and paintings portraying the essence of the island. In addition, conch shells and black coral, a natural replacement for jewels extracted from mines, are used to create one-of-a-kind jewelry. You can support local artists and bring home a souvenir of Belizean culture from the craft market.

Tips for Your Belizean Adventure

  • The best time to visit Belize is during the dry season, from December to April.

  • Belize uses the Belize dollar (BZD), but US dollars are widely accepted.

  • Pack for both hot and humid weather, as well as light rain showers that can occur throughout the year.

  • Don't forget to bring reef-safe sunscreen and insect repellent!

Belize is a place that you will never forget.

Travelers can enjoy something from this country's rich culture and hospitable people to its breathtaking natural beauty. Put your swimwear on, pack your bags, and get ready for an unforgettable vacation!

Off the Beaten Path in Vietnam: Exploring Untamed Beauty

Boasting its lengthy coastline, gastronomic delights, and diverse natural and cultural resources, Vietnam has recently risen as a popular destination for those wanting to explore South East Asia. Each part of the country offers different vistas and experiences, ensuring a beautiful variety of stimulating adventures for every traveler.

Come up north and visit Vietnam’s bustling capital city of Hanoi and explore the Old Quarter. Mingle with the locals in this neighborhood, which is lined with shops and buildings where you can find old Vietnamese architecture, ancient streets, and delicious local cuisine. Hanoi is where you’ll also see a multitude of motorcycles on the road and sidewalks, something that the country’s famous for as it’s the primary mode of transportation for the Vietnamese. You can also hop on a bus and join one of the many boat tours to see Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Boat tours around the bay typically offer a lunch buffet as you cruise around the towering limestone rocks.

Down along the coast of central Vietnam is where Da Nang is located, famous for its beautiful beaches and as a jump off point for the old imperial city of Hue and the ancient town of Hoi An. Travelers can stay at a hotel overlooking the beaches of Da Nang, and enjoy a day-long trip to see the Golden Bridge and one the longest cable cars in the world at Ba Na Hills. Spend a few nights at the neighboring city of Hoi An, where you can ride the viral spinning basket boats in the morning and release lanterns on the river at night. Don’t forget to visit the imperial city of Hue and dress in Vietnam's traditional wear, ao dai, to explore the citadel (the ao dai you can rent in Hue is a bit different from the ao dai we normally know as it’s the old or traditional version, which was eventually simplified into its current look!).

Finish your trip down south in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) to see Vietnam’s most populous city and its economic center. Learn about the country’s wartime history at the Independence Palace and Cu Chi Tunnels, go for Vietnamese coffee at the Cafe Apartments, and walk around historic Ho Chi Minh Square, Ben Thanh Market, and Saigon Square to shop ‘til you drop.

Don’t forget to try local dishes wherever you are in the country! Each region has their own spin on local dishes, but don’t forget to try Vietnamese coffee, Banh Mi, Pho, Bo Bun Hue, Banh Xeo, and Vietnamese spring rolls to name a few. Ask locals or hotel staff where their favourite stalls are and eat like a local on low stools on the sidewalks.

There is plenty to explore around the diverse country of Vietnam and it’s always worth taking a trip back to see more of what the country has to offer! Spend your first private group tour at these romantic destinations and enjoy Vietnam. You’ll want to keep coming back!

The Dazzling Delights of Dubai

The Dazzling Delights of Dubai

From the stunning building designs to the sand dunes of the desert are fascinating dazzling delights Dubai has to offer.   Dubai is located on the Persian Gulf coast of the United Arab Emirates, and it has a beautiful coastline, sandy beaches, and many different landscapes. There’re tons of shopping, nightclubs, cigar lounges, and a plethora of things to do including sand skiing, sky diving, powerboat races, and well-maintained beautiful golf courses!

For many years, Dubai has been on my list of places to visit. I have heard so many great things about Dubai as well as interesting cultural facts. I wanted to experience the beauty and its culture first-hand, so I decided to have my birthday bash in Dubai to see what all Dubai had to offer.

Getting prepared for the trip:

I went during the time when the cases of COVID-19 were slowing down. I still took safety measures by getting my COVID vaccination and wearing my face mask throughout the airport and on the plane the entire time. I also pre-scheduled my COVID test at my hotel in Dubai to ensure I had my COVID test requirements completed before my departure flight to head back to the United. States.

Most flights departing from the U.S. to the United Arab Emirates are set to leave in the evening time and the total travel time ranges from 16 hours to 21 hours. Thus, I recommend bringing snacks on your flight, downloading some good movies on your mobile phone, and bringing your travel pillow.

I researched proper etiquette regarding cultural differences, below is a list of helpful tips:

What to wear in Dubai?

Click on the links below for details

The dos and don’ts while in Dubai:

Money:

You might want to check on the exchange rate before leaving the U.S. I recommend exchanging some money while you are at the airport in the United States, as well as exchanging some when you arrive in Dubai. At times, you can debit money out of the local ATM and get a better exchange rate.

Calling your bank and cell phone company:

Please remember to contact your banks to let them know you are traveling to Dubai so that they won’t freeze your accounts.

Even, if your trip is already paid in full, you will still need a major credit card to check into your hotel room for incidentals.

Call your cell phone and add an international calling plan if you do not already have one. This will save on fees. Although most places should have wifi for you to use your cell phone, it is still important you can use your cell phone without wifi if needed.

Best time to go:

The best time to visit Dubai is in September and April when the weather is sunny but not too hot. Although I went in the month of June, the heat wasn’t that bad and a night the temperature cooled down.

Where to stay:

Dubai has some of the most fascinating hotels ranging from $250 per night to $2k per night.  I stayed at the Fairmont Dubai Hotel. The Fairmont Dubai Hotel is a unique blend of contemporary design and urban chic, Fairmont Dubai hotel is an icon in the financial heart of the city, this multi-use complex is just minutes from Dubai's key attractions, shopping facilities, golf clubs, and beaches. Modeled after an Arabic wind tower (barajeel), this 34-story luxury Dubai hotel features 394 guestrooms, and the eight contemporary dining and entertainment venues offer an array of gastronomic delights to amuse the palate.

The Spa at Fairmont Dubai is a distinctive destination encompassing 40,000 square feet, and offers a fully equipped health club, complete with two contemporary rooftop swimming pools, boasting unfettered views of both the sunrise and sunset over a dazzling skyline of Dubai.

Things to do:

Take a Dubai City Tour

You can explore the iconic architecture of Modern Dubai and visit the surrounding landmarks around the Dubai Creek in the traditional part of town. From The Palm, Jumeirah to the Gold and Spice Souks. If you have time, you can even make time to visit the Dubai Frame observation deck for beautiful photos.

Have dinner on a Sunset Desert Safari

If you want to combine adventure with elegance then the Sunset Desert Safar tour is a must to do. You will start out the evening with an awesome safari ride on the sand dunes. The drilling safari ride will take you on a journey rolling over the dunes. After your ride then you can enjoy watching the sunset and after the sunset, there is a grand feast of grilled meats, fresh salads, and delectable Arab sweets are served. Under a galaxy of stars, you will be entertained by the belly dancers swaying to the tunes of Arabian music.

If you want more adventure, then you can always have Dinner in the Sky

A one in a lifetime experience to enjoy a full-course delicious meal with your family and friends high up in the sky! The average cost of a plate starts at $200 USD per person, and your dinner will last about 2 hours. The views and food are well worth the cost!

Shopping

There are a vast number of places to go shopping in Dubai ranging from the traditional open-air markets, Gold Souks to the world’s largest shopping center, the Dubai Mall.

Below is a list of top places to go shopping:

The Dubai Mall

Souk Madinat Jumeriah
