Events: There’s two big events held each year for those seeking great entertainment on a beautiful island:

National Carnival - While other carnivals focus on masquerades and parades, the St. Kitts National Carnival emphasizes national pride and heritage. Beginning Dec. 26 and running through just after the New Year, it blends elements of African, European and regional influences, showcasing the island's folklore and traditions through song, dance, music, drama and poetry in a variety of competitions, performances and street activities.

Music Festival – The St. Kitts Music Festival in June is popular with residents and visitors alike. Known for spotlighting rising local talent alongside internationally renowned acts, it features a mix of musical styles, including R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Gospel and more! Past artists have included: John Legend, T-Pain, Michael Bolton, KC & the Sunshine Band, Wyclef Jean, Ne-Yo, Air Supply, Billy Ocean, Sean Paul, Boyz II Men, King Konris, Stephen Marley, Regina Belle, Maxi Priest, Biggie Irie and Lord Nelson.

The Beach House: At the tip of the Southeast Peninsula, the Beach House's ambience and décor create an atmosphere of pure barefoot sophistication. Specializing in seafood complemented by a variety of meat and pasta dishes and suggested wine pairings, the international cuisine has touches of West Indian influence.

Spice Mill Restaurant: Both cuisine and decor reaches across the spectrum of Caribbean ethnicity. Set on the beach in St. Kitts' Southeast Peninsula, the Spice Mill marries flavors from across the globe with traditional West Indian tastes and is open for both lunch and dinner. Diners can sip a cocktail by the sea in one of the four-poster beds along the water's edge.

Reggae Beach Bar & Grill is located on the South East Peninsula, and Specializes in seafood and barbecue dishes, with favorites such as fresh grilled fish, grilled lobster, and exotic frozen tropical drinks. The restaurant combines hearty cuisine with an array of water sports.

Blu Seafood Restaurant: A popular choice for a refined dinner, this terraced oceanfront restaurant at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort features fresh seafood with a 180-degree panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. Reservations are suggested and hours are seasonal, so a call before arriving is recommended.

Calypso Restaurant and Café Calypso: Set inside the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Calypso restaurant is a popular spot for family dining. It is open daily for breakfast and lunch and features buffet and a la carte selections emphasizing local ingredients that include fresh fish, fruits and vegetables. The Café, located at the entrance to the restaurant, offers flavored coffee, espresso, sandwiches, snacks and pastries daily for breakfast, lunch and late night dinner.

Shopping: If you are looking for unique souvenirs and exciting things to bring back home then check out the following places:

Port Zante, offers a dazzling array of new shops featuring famous name jewelry, perfume and clothing lines. There are shops catering to every taste, including souvenir shops.

At the Craft House, shoppers can buy locally designed clothing, including the popular and much sought-after batik print, from Island Hopper, and rich artwork from Spencer Cameron and other art galleries. The Craft House is one of the best places on the island to buy local crafts, made by talented Kittitian sculptors and craftsmen from a variety of materials and objects, including dried coconut shells, sea shells, wood, metal stones and fabric.

The Pelican Mall and the TDC Mall are also popular with visitors and local residents alike. Carrying a wide assortment of Kittitian delights and other merchandise, TDC is home to, among other shops, Splash, for beachwear; Top Notch Lingerie, for your honeymoon and romance clients; Music Unlimited, for those who want to bring home the sounds of the islands; and Sun Surf Internet Café, where shoppers can send e-mails back home telling of their wonderful shopping spree.

The Monkey Bar, located near the eastern end of The Strip, offers dining, drinking and dancing. The latter includes moving and grooving the sounds of a live steel band on Friday nights.

Inon's Bar, on the western end, is especially popular with students and other young adults. It doesn't serve food, but there are plenty of dining options nearby where they can fuel up for a night of revelry.

At Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack, you can enjoy a roaring bonfire, a live band, DJ music, karaoke or even a fire-eater show, depending on which night you visit.

Continuing west along The Strip, the lively Ziggy's Bar offers DJ music on weeknights and live music on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Buddies Bar & Grill, offers DJ music on weekends and a live band on special occasions.
